At Imo Knows, I believe in being curious about just about everything. But when it comes to your personal information, there should be no mystery about what happens to it.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it and what choices you have.

IMOKNOWS LIMITED is responsible for deciding how personal information collected through this website is used.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Imo Knows, we may collect:
Newsletter information: Your email address, your first and last name if supplied, and your country if you choose to share it. The current website signup form does not ask for country.
Contact enquiries: Your name, email address, contact details and anything you include in a message you send us.
Website technical information: Information needed to operate, maintain and protect the website, which may include IP address, browser details, device information, access times and technical records.
Download and website activity: Information relating to the use of our website and free resources, but only to the extent collected by the services actually enabled on the website.
Additional services or purchases: If you use a service, booking or purchasing feature in the future, additional information may be needed. Relevant notices will be reviewed when those features are introduced.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
Newsletter subscriptions: To send Imo Knows newsletters and updates that you have requested.
Subscriber location: If you voluntarily provide your country, to understand where in the world our readers are based and to help us plan relevant content. Country selection is optional.
Responding to enquiries: To reply to questions, requests and messages.
Operating and protecting the website: To maintain website functionality, investigate technical problems and protect against misuse.
Improving the website: To understand how the website is used where the relevant analytics or measurement features are enabled and lawfully operated.
We do not use IP-based location detection to populate newsletter country information. Optional country information does not tell us your precise location. Website analytics may separately use anonymised IP information to estimate the location of a visit, as explained in our Cookie Policy.
4. Our legal bases for using your information
Under UK data protection law, we must have a valid reason for using personal information.
Consent: We rely on your consent for email newsletters. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time.
Legitimate interests: Where appropriate, we may process information necessary to respond to ordinary enquiries, operate our website securely and prevent misuse, taking account of your rights and expectations.
Legal obligations: We may process or retain information where necessary to meet applicable legal requirements.
Other legal bases will be identified where relevant if additional services are introduced.
5. Email newsletters
When you subscribe to Imo Knows, we use your email address to send our newsletter and manage your subscription.
You may also provide your first and last name. These fields are optional. If we offer a country field or you otherwise choose to share your country, providing it is optional too.
Our newsletter is managed using IONOS Email Marketing, powered by Maileon. The service processes subscriber information and technical delivery information to operate the mailing system.
IONOS describes its standard newsletter measurements as delivery, opening and link-click statistics that are not analysed or stored against individual subscribers.
Every marketing newsletter will include an unsubscribe method. You can also contact info@imoknows.com to ask about your subscription.
You can withdraw your consent to receive newsletters at any time.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell our newsletter subscriber lists or personal information to advertisers.
We use providers to operate our website and email services, including:
- IONOS, for website hosting and related website services.
- XQueue GmbH, IONOS's email-marketing processing partner, at Christian-Pleß-Straße 11–13, 63069 Offenbach, Germany.
- Google services associated with the Website Translator and Ecwid, Inc. for Store functionality, where those services are used. These services are listed in the website's Privacy Settings.
These providers process information to deliver the relevant services. External services may also process information under their own privacy policies, linked in Privacy Settings.
We may also disclose information where required by law.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or where retention is required by law.
Newsletter records: We retain subscriber information while a subscription is active. If someone unsubscribes, we may keep the minimum information needed to respect that request and avoid sending further unwanted emails. IONOS states that personal data is deleted three months after the email-marketing account is closed, and event statistics are deleted after 13 months during an active account.
Enquiries: We retain messages for as long as necessary to deal with the enquiry and any relevant follow-up or legal obligations.
Technical information: Retention depends on the hosting and security services used and the purpose of the records. The website's current SiteAnalytics disclosure states that its collected data is retained for eight weeks and then deleted.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies or similar technologies to operate and remember settings and, where enabled, measure website use.
Some technologies may be necessary for basic website functionality. Our current privacy controls offer choices for Website Translator, IONOS SiteAnalytics and Store. Non-essential services should only operate in accordance with your choices and applicable consent requirements.
For more information, including the services listed in the controls and how to manage your choices, please see our Cookie Policy. You can reopen the site's Privacy Settings using the cookie icon.
9. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to:
- Request access to your personal information.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of information.
- Request restriction of certain uses.
- Object to processing where applicable.
- Request transfer of your information in certain circumstances.
- Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
Your right to object: You can object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing at any time.
To exercise your rights, email info@imoknows.com.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/
10. International visitors and data transfers
Imo Knows welcomes readers from around the world.
IONOS states that its email-marketing data is processed within the EU or EEA. The current SiteAnalytics disclosure identifies Germany and the EU as processing locations, with no transfers outside the EU.
The Website Translator and Store disclosures identify possible worldwide transfers. Details and the providers' privacy information are available in Privacy Settings. Where international transfers take place, appropriate safeguards are required under applicable data protection law.
11. External websites and resources
Imo Knows links to external services, websites and resources, including Canva and other third-party platforms.
When you visit another website, that provider's own privacy practices apply. We encourage you to review the relevant provider's privacy information.
12. Children
Imo Knows is primarily intended for a general adult audience.
We do not intentionally invite children to provide personal information without appropriate safeguards. If we become aware of information collected from a child in circumstances requiring additional protection, we will review it and take appropriate action.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if our services, technology or legal obligations change.
The date at the top of the policy will reflect the latest revision. Where a significant change affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where required.
